FAQ's

 

How is 1 day hire considered?
1 day rental is from 7am to 6:30pm or part thereof.  It is not a 24hr period because the equipment or clothing needs to be serviced overnight before it can be used the following day for other customers.

 

Where are you located?
We are on the main alpine highway 73 in Darfield.  It is on route from Christchurch to all Canterbury ski areas including Mt Hutt and Porters Ski Area.

 

What do you rent?
Everything except your undies!  Skis, boots, poles, snowboards, snow chains, clothing, goggles, gloves, helmets, avalanche kits, nutcracker packs, toboggans, touring gear, roof racks and more.

 

Do you have boots to fit my feet?
We carry a wide range ski boots to accommodate different foot shapes.  We even have supportive insoles that can be added to make the boot more conformable.   Obviously, it’s never going to feel like a custom fitted boot of the shelf but we will help you out.

 

Do I need to book?
Although we are the largest ski and board rental centre in Canterbury, on the busy weekends we can still run out of some gear.  It is always advisable to book in advance to save any disappointment.

 

What hours are you open?
7am until 6:30pm, 7 days a week during the ski season.

 

Is there a special discount for large groups?
Yes, if you have a group of 10 or more please contact us directly and we can give you a quote.

 

Can I exchange my gear?
Yes, no problems.  If you want to exchange your skis, boots or any other piece of equipment please head back to the store and we can swap it over for you.  If you upgrade there may be extra charges.

 

If I don’t ski for a day in the middle do I have to pay for it?
Our multiday rates are extremely good value and do account for a rest day.  Hiring skis is like hiring a car, while it’s in your procession the products have to be charged for.

 

Can I hire part sets e.g. boots only?
Yes, check out our full price list here.

 

When do I pay for me rental?
You pay on collection, if you return early or late the difference will be sorted on the return.

 

Can I keep the gear longer?
Yes, please call the store to discuss to info us.  Depending on the item this should be fine but occasionally the item could be booked for another customer the following day.

 

What is Damage Insurance?
Damage Insurance covers you against accidental damage to the skis or boards on your hire contract.  It does not cover loss, theft or excessive damage from misuse.  We strongly recommend you take damage insurance at $2 per day per set as it could save you thousands in replacement cost.
